Naltima 50 mg tablets contain the active ingredient Naltrexone, a medication prescribed for addiction to alcohol and opioid drugs. Naltima can be prescribed with other medications or by itself. Naltrexone works by blocking the receptors in the brain to obstruct the effects of alcohol or opioid drugs.


Naltima is a therapeutic drug used to treat alcohol or drug dependence. Intas manufactures Naltima, it is available in 10-pack tablets.

Warnings and Precautions

Before taking Naltima it is important to tell your doctor what drugs and medications you are taking, this includes prescription, over-the-counter, and illegal drugs.
Do not take Naltima if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Tell your doctor if you have any drug allergies, this includes:

  • Coughing
  • Hives
  • Itching
  • Rash
  • Shortness of breathe
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat
  • Wheezing

Seek immediate medical attention is you have of these serious reations.

  • Abnormal thoughts
  • Anxiety
  • Blue or gray skin color
  • Chest pain or tightness
  • Dark urine
  • Depression
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fainting
  • Fever
  • Inability to eat or drink
  • Loss of interest in life
  • Seizures
  • Severe dizziness
  • Severe skin rash
  • Severe weakness or tiredness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Yellow skin or eyes

Tell your doctor if you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, have symptoms of drug withdrawal, take pain medication or have liver failure or hepatitis. Although rare, damage to the liver may occur.
Do not operate machinery or engage in activities that require you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you know how Naltima affects you.

If you miss a dose, take as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of your next dose, wait until the next scheduled dose. Do not take an extra dose to make up for the missed one.
In case of an accidental overdose seek medical attention immediately or call the nearest poison control center.

Naltrexone is a Category C drug. Animal reproduction research has shown naltrexone has caused adverse effects on the fetus. Despite lack of adequate controlled research on the effects in human reproduction the possible advantages may outweigh the potential risks of naltrexone use by pregnant women.

Store Naltima in a cool, dry location out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not take Naltima if it is past the expiration date on the packaging.

Drug Interactions

Do not take Naltima with any other medications without your doctor's approval; certain drugs can cause a severe drug interaction. Your doctor or pharmacist can provide a complete list of drugs which may interact with Naltima. Do not drink alcohol when taking Naltima.

How to use

Take Naltima only as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Naltima or change the dosage without the approval of your doctor.

Take prescribed dosage with a glass of water. Naltima can be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs take Naltima with food.
Store Naltima in a cool, dry location out of the reach of children and pets.

Possible Side Effects

As with any medication Naltima has the possibility of side effects. Signs of a possible side effect include:

  • Blurred eyesight
  • Changes in thinking clearly
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Excitability
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Heachache
  • Lightheadedness
  • Nervousness
  • Stomach pain
  • Upset stomach or throwing up

Chewing sugar free gum, sucking on hard candy, small meals and good mouth hygiene may help to relieve some of the side effects.
If you experience side effects that don't improve or get worse seek medical advice or medical care.
